Google likes it when you have lots of websites linking to your site. Having multiple sites that are specific to your particular specialty and the geographical area that you are looking to grow will help your company back-fill additional search pages.

Over time the more sites you have active the better your ability to appear before your competition. Basically, this pushes your competitors further down the search pages and you become the main player for the most searched for keyword-phrases.

A good domain name with content based on that name will help you rank high at the search engines. Google tends to give weight to keywords in the domain name which increases the importance of selecting a good name.

Once you have your main business website developed, it's time to start thinking about building additional website for each one of your business lines with content specific to each keyword phrase. We call them 'Mini Sites'.

For example, if you have a company that sells Canvas Awnings in MN, then purchasing a domain called www.canvasawningsmn.com and building a web site around that keyword phrase would be a great idea.
